Powerful stories emerge from every region of the global ecosystem of Certified B Corporations. But too often, language barriers prevent them from generating maximum impact across different stakeholder geographies. Having identified an opening, we took a proactive approach by amplifying voices that otherwise might have gone unheard.
It is unacceptable that race and gender should determine who suffers most from the lack of universal access to a fundamental human right—one essential to life itself. We must pave the way for Black women to participate in discussions on water access, and everyone has a role to play in these initiatives.
At its core, climate justice is a human rights issue. Without equity and inclusion, without the voices, experience, and leadership of Black women, there can be no true climate justice in Brazil.
Defending the Amazon cannot be confined to environmental issues or to the purview of a single social group. In each rural, urban, riverine, Black, and Quilombola community, there are living memories that may forgive but do not forget the dark days of enslavement.
We must commit to driving transformation that leads to the development of robust, inclusive policies for the advancement of Black professionals in their careers. The first step in this endeavor is taking a deep dive into racism and diversity in Brazil.
Beyond merely assigning company roles, it’s essential to foster spaces where individuals are encouraged to express themselves and where they feel others are actively listening to them.
