Hello Avani’s Path to B Certification

Timeline of Certification Journey: December 2025 – May 2026

Overview

Hello Avani is a purpose-driven media production company based in Dallas, Texas, specializing in transforming the messages of sustainability-focused businesses and organizations into inspiring displays of impact storytelling. Founded in 2022 by Jigna Pappas, the company’s Creative Director with over 10 years of industry experience spanning broadcast, editing, and motion design, Hello Avani operates with people and planet always at top of mind.

Given her mindset, there was no question that B Certification would be a natural reflection of the values already embedded in Jigna’s work at Hello Avani. Yet with so many questions and impact areas to address, Jigna was at a loss on where to start and what to prioritize for formal recognition. We partnered with Jigna to establish the operational infrastructure needed to achieve B Certification from the ground up, ensuring Hello Avani’s values were tangibly reflected in every aspect of its operations.

The Challenges: Insurmountable Overwhelm, Unclear Direction, and Time Constraints

As a solo founder running a lean operation, Jigna faced several barriers to pursuing B Certification on her own:

✔ An Overwhelming Process: The B Certification journey felt daunting at first, with no clear starting point. Trying to understand what to prioritize and how to properly document everything created a significant mental load for Jigna.
✔ Turning Values into Measurables: While Hello Avani’s mission was deeply aligned with the principles of B Certification, translating those values into concrete, measurable practices and policies was unclear and time-consuming at best.
✔ Limited Bandwidth: As a one-person team managing business operations and billable work, dedicating the time needed to navigate the Certification process independently was not feasible.
✔ The Need for Confidence: Without a clear roadmap, it was difficult for Jigna to advance knowing that her efforts would successfully lead to Certification.

The Solution: Defining a Clear and Manageable Path

We met Jigna where she was and tailored a bespoke plan that transformed an overwhelming process into clear, actionable steps:

✔ Broke down each impact area of the B Impact Assessment into manageable phases, ensuring Jigna always knew exactly what to do and why during each phase.
✔ Developed key institutional and operational policies, including a company Operating Agreement mandating wider consideration of diverse stakeholder groups in decision-making and an environmental stewardship policy clarifying our care for the planet in the home office setting, to formalize Hello Avani’s commitment to responsible business practices.
✔ Aligned financial infrastructure by guiding Hello Avani to a more ethical banking partner, ensuring the company’s financial operations reflected its values.
✔ Accentuated the company’s innate spirit of charitable giving, leveraging the Designed to Give impact business model as formal inspiration.
✔ Organized all documentation and interacted with B Lab during the review process on behalf of Hello Avani, removing significant administrative burden from Jigna’s plate.

The Impact: Internal Alignment and a Strong Foundation for Growth

Having launched our partnership in December 2025, our technical expertise and motivational support in maintaining organization throughout our diligence process enabled us to submit our B Impact Assessment in February 2026. With our level of execution across acceptable documentation and methods of verification, we succeeded in making the case for Hello Avani’s purpose-driven impact, most notably:

1️⃣ Donating 5% of top-line revenue year over year to charitable organizations working to ensure our planet and future generations thrive. This giving commitment is honored in part through Hello Avani’s 1% for the Planet business membership.
2️⃣ Purchasing 100% renewable energy for operations in the home office setting whenever available in the local market.
3️⃣ Volunteering 5% of company time through pro-bono services to non-profit organizations working to do right by people and planet.

With all of the impact that was captured and recognized during the review process, we guided Hello Avani across the finish line with favorable results:

B Certification Achieved: Hello Avani officially became a Certified B Corporation in May 2026, joining a global movement of leaders committed to using business as a force for good.
Formalized Business Operations: We established key policies and infrastructure, ensuring operational integrity and a clear path for future growth aligned with B Lab’s new standards (V2).
Clarity in Purpose: We instilled in Jigna a higher sense of intentionality in how Hello Avani operates, empowering the company to be purpose-driven in practice and not just in principle.
